Soo I-500 Weekend
We left Wednesday night late for the Soo which sucked because there was black ice on all of the roads. We drove 50mph all the way up. On Thursday they were still running qualifying because of the weather delays earlier in the week. Me and Kevin each got about 8 laps on the track for practice. It was pretty intense riding someone else's sled with a mod motor on a one mile track. Everything went good though and we got alot of compliments from race officals. Doug Kammeraad started the race in 4th position. Tom Spomer got on second at lap 50 or so. He ran until lap 150ish when he rolled the sled in turn 4. We got the sled in and fixed up with out losing a lap or forfeiting 2nd place. I got on and put in about 70 laps. Kevin was up after me but came back in soon after going out during a caution because the bars where too low for him to ride in the bumps. Doug took his place and rolled the sled in turn one after catching an edge made by the grader during the plow. We got the other hood on and the bars bent back and kept making laps and positions. Doug ended up back on the sled for the last 40 laps and was running 5th. 4th was sitting in the pits with a blown motor. Doug blew a belt on the last lap, the lap needed to over take 4th place. All in all, Kammi Racing #10 had a good weekend and a strong finish. Kevin and I learned alot and look forward to doing it agian next year. We definately turned some heads with our performance as Semi-Pros racing in the biggest Pro Mod enduro race around.
