So Here's the skinny (Drummond Island)
So as you can see we were well prepared for the '09 season until everything went wrong. Long story short, Mike got his sled back together, Kev and I finished beefing up our suspension for the enduros and went to the first race at Drummond. Just like always we didn't like our setup in Hot laps changed a bunch of stuff and eventually came back to what we started with and it worked. Mike won every semi-pro race that he entered and I won the Pro stock class. But I did have an incident during the 2nd heat race. I was on MIke's sled which holeshots like a champer. I came into turn three in 3rd and everyone started to push out. I went for the inside line but never made it there. I get T-boned by another sled that had BLOWN the corner. I was pile driven into the gas tank and lost my right hand off the bars. I coasted to a stop on the straight while everyone slowed up for the red flag and the upside down sled of the driver who hit me. I pulled off the track and went ghost white, almost passing out. Felt like I got hit with a sledge hammer right on top of the hip bone. Short visit with the ambulance and a whole lot of pain killers had me back on the track for the rest of the weekend.
For Sunday we qualified towards the front and ran top three all day. Me and kev really had things going for us. The pits were different though in that they didn't count your lap as you went in because the pit lane brought you around the timing wire. Well no big deal until lap 250 when we are in 1st, kev pulls in under yellow for a drivers change and we don't get counted for a lap. I was able to make up the lap and almost pass everyone again but we ended up 3rd officially. We were however the first sled to complete 300 laps even though it wasn't scored that way. We are still a little bitter about that.
All in all though, a great start to the season.
